HistoryShamus Rennie's past

Shamus Rennie (Pty) Ltd was established in Port Shepstone on the Natal South Coast in 1958 by Shamus Arthur Rennie. Shamus's son, Malcolm Rennie, joined the business in 1965 as an apprentice and when Shamus passed away suddenly at the end of 1968, Malcolm took over the business with the support of his mother, Constance, until her retirement in 1974.

Whilst the refrigeration and air conditioning business on the South Coast became well established, Malcolm realised in the mid 1980's that there was potential to expand the business to provide countrywide air conditioning solutions for clients. (These solutions were originally focused on the various banking institutions). An office was opened in Johannesburg in 1991 to support this strategy and the volume of work attained in Johannesburg eventually necessitated Shamus Rennie (Pty) Ltd's head office (including the in-house sheet metal factory) being established in Johannesburg in 1993.

By this time, three of Malcolm's four children, Carla, Ryan and Kyle, had joined the company and Malcolm's daughter-in-law, Michelle, joined only a little later in 1997.

Malcolm's retirement in 2012 resulted in Shamus Rennie (Pty) Ltd becoming a third generation family managed business with Ryan, Kyle, Michelle and Carla striving to write the next chapter of the Shamus Rennie (Pty) Ltd story as eloquently and colourfully as Shamus and Malcolm.
